A snowy morning

Article text
The view east from Pen Y Fan.
A fall of snow occurred at last this week, but only on the highest ground, so that's where I headed. The climb up Pen Y Fan never gets any easier but rarely do I regret having made the effort. After a fiery sunrise, I walked along Craig Gwaun Taf to get some views of the snow covered twin peaks of Pen Y Fan and Corn Du, lit by the morning sun. After mooching around on Corn Du for a while, I headed over to Pen Y Fan and shot the view eastwards over Cribyn and the Upper Neuadd reservoir. The contrast was very high in this scene so as well as using a 0.9 ND grad on the 17-40mm lens, I made several exposures for the foreground and sky and then combined two of them in Photoshop, resulting in the image you see here. After a pleasant two and a half hours up there, it was beginning to get a little crowded, so it was off to the pub for a well earned lunch.
