Under the boardwalk...

It's been a while since my last outing so it was nice to finally get out again in a bit of welcome sunshine. There are some well known landmarks which have been photographed so many times over the years that it is hard to come up with something original. I had this thought in mind whilst shooting Mumbles Pier last weekend. The sun had been up for about a hour and was illuminating the pier and shoreline nicely with strong, yet warm light. With a high tide, my options were limited without finding a boat, but I managed to find this viewpoint underneath the steps leading to Mumbles beach. I'm sure this viewpoint has been used before, but it was a new view to me. The stonework is catching the light nicely and just adding a little more texture and interest to an otherwise fairly ordinary scene. In case you are wondering, yes, I did get wet (again!) My tripod also decided to fail again so its back to the manufacturers once more and hello to my old Benbo Mark 1 for the next few weeks.
This was the 17-40mm lens as usual with a ND grad and a 3 stop ND filter at about f18.
