The Millenium Stadium on the eve of the opening event of the Olympic Games
As Olympic fever sweeps Britain, I thought it would be appropriate to post a picture of where the Olympic Games are kicking off; no, not London, but Cardiff, as the Ladies football commences in the Millenium Stadium today. I can hardly wait.
I live about 5 miles away from this stadium but for some reason I have only ever photographed it once before. I always tend to ignore what is on my doorstep. Security is very tight around the stadium at the moment, with the riverside path around the stadium closed for three weeks, but with the eyes of the world on Cardiff for a few days, they have made sure the place is looking good; the scaffolding is down and the flags are out, so a good time to shoot it. This image was taken just one hour before sunset when the stadium was bathed in golden light and nicely reflected in the murky waters of the River Taff.
You can find this image, together with a few more of the stadium, in the Cardiff and District gallery.
